This week, I wanted to answer two questions: can I make German Stud Muffins for my horses, and will they like them?
My horses have always liked German Stud Muffins, so I decided to try making them myself. I searched for recipes online, found a few I liked, and combined them to meet my horses’ needs. For example, I added more flaxseed for health benefits and swapped carrots for pears.
Here is the recipe and steps I used:
Flaxseed Horse Muffins
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease your muffin tins well to prevent sticking. I used two heavy coats of PAM.
- Mix the molasses and steel-cut oats until the oats are fully coated.
- Gradually add the flour, flaxseed, and cornstarch, mixing well.
- Add the processed carrot and apple and mix well.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Remove the muffins from the pan immediately and cool on a wire rack.
