These moist, chewy brownies have plenty of rich chocolatey flavor—with a fraction of the fat and calories found in many traditional recipes. Wheat germ and oats add fiber and vitamins, while the milk powder provides a calcium boost.
Instructions :
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Coat an 8″ x 8″ baking dish with cooking spray.
- Put the chocolate and butter in a microwaveable dish. Melt in the microwave on medium power for 30 to 45 seconds. In a bowl, stir together the oats, wheat germ, milk powder, and walnuts.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat together the egg and egg whites, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir in the melted chocolate and beat until smooth.
- Stir in the oat mixture. Pour the batter into the baking dish. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
- When the brownies are cool, cut them with a sharp knife coated with cooking spray.
